Crossfire House Rules I Use

 Crossfire House Rules

These house rules are a combination of our group's own house rules as well as those collected from around the internet. In particular, https://balagan.info/crossfire/crossfire-house-rules is a wonderful blog full of incredible ideas for crossfire. Really a treasure trove, so if you would like to explore ways to improve on the already great Crossfire system, do check out that site.

Any house rules I have borrowed from someone else have a link to the original creator of the house rules.

RALLY

Squads, Guns, and Crewed Weapons

Rally is done by individual stand as written OR you can rally the PL and any stand within 1 BW and LOS on a single roll. This is known as a Platoon Rally.

This makes rallying a much more attractive option, but it is still a risk because on a failure you will lose initiative. We noticed when we played that most players didn't want to rally troops since it is difficult to rally suppressed troops and having to do it one at a time made the venture far too risky.

Vehicles

Vehicle platoons should have a platoon leader as noted above. Vehicles can Platoon Rally if the PL vehicle has LOS to the rallying vehicle. However, if the vehicles don't have radios, the other vehicles must be within 1 BW of the PL and in LOS.

VEHICLES AND GUNS

You can see the Data Charts I have put together for vehicles and guns on Google Drive by clicking this link.

AT Fire

This is basically a consolidated version of all of Stephens's wonderful musings on AT fire in Crossfire available on his website

Procedure:

  1. Reference the AT rating of the vehicle/gun. This is the number of attack dice it has to fire before modifiers.
  2. Subtract any other modifiers:
    1. Target Armor = - dice equal to target armor
    2. Protective Cover = -1d6
    3. Hull Down = -1d6 & only hit on 6
    4. Flank/Rear Fire = +1d6
  3. Hit on a 5+ (6+ if hull down). Hits are applied as squad direct fire.

Vehicle & Gun Anti-Personel Fire

Instead of HE dice, each gun has an Anti-Personel (AP) rating. This is the number of dice they roll against squads, guns, and soft vehicles before any modifiers. Normal shooting modifiers apply (protective cover, etc.)

Vehicle Groups

Vehicles can group move with other vehicles from the same platoon. The group must follow the LOS rules for the PL as Squads do IF a vehicle does not have a radio.

Vehicles, Fire Groups, and Crossfire

Vehicles of the same platoon can conduct direct fire using the Fire Group and Crossfire rules as long as all vehicles are part of the same platoon.
